Part Time Educational Support Associate (McNair Scholars Program) - Grant Funded

This position provides grant-based objectives support for the program, which serves at least 25 undergraduate students each year.
Responsibilities include student tutoring, mentoring, and Graduate Records Examination (GRE) preparation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Provides course tutoring to students in an array of undergraduate courses; must have received an A- or higher in course to provide tutoring.
Provides group and individual study skills training for students.
Schedules and facilitates study sessions for students as needed.
Provides academic coaching for students.
Prepares self-study materials to assist students in GRE preparation.
Monitors and guides students as they complete GRE preparation materials.
Mentors, motivates and engages students throughout the learning process.
Maintains detailed record of student contacts and services provided.
Contacts McNair alumni and updates record.
Assists with recordkeeping and administrative tasks.
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in a degree-seeking baccalaureate/graduate program or obtained a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university Experience or training in academic coaching is preferred; Experience serving the target population of the grant is preferred.
Must be conscientious, prompt and have respect for the confidential nature of the office.
Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Must have ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends if needed.
Must have knowledge of all related aspects of GRE test including test format and enrollment process.
Strong, diverse undergraduate academic preparation across the humanities, social sciences, physical and biological sciences, and business is preferred.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are necessary; ability to take accurate messages/keep detailed records Strong presentation, organizational, time-management, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and detail oriented.
Excellent customer service skills with ability to provide service to the university community; Professional demeanor, appearance and strong work ethic.
Ability to take initiative, work independently, meet timelines, organize information, attend to details, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced office Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, writing and by phone Familiarity with the McNair Scholars Program or other TRiO programs is preferred.
Individuals who would have been McNair eligible are especially encouraged to apply as are McNair scholars preparing to enter graduate study full-time after receiving a baccalaureate degree.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Working conditions include a combination of working in the office and remotely as needed.
Must be able to move across the university campus to conduct day to day business.
While performing this role, the employee will be regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; and occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Frequently communicates with others using approved technological resources; must be able to exchange accurate information through designated systems within a timely manner.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
