Executive Director, Trauma Research and Combat Casualty Care Collaborative (TRC4)

UT Health San AntonioUT Health San Antonio is seeking the founding Executive Director of the newly formed Trauma Research and Combat Casualty Care Collaborative (TRC4).
The TRC4 is a UT System-wide trauma research network of all 13 UT campuses.
The mission of TRC4 is to fund transformative, collaborative basic, clinical, and translational trauma research between investigators across the entire UT System.
The intent is to position investigators, their institutions and their trauma center partners to obtain additional funding from the Department of Defense, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other extramural funders of trauma research.
The vision of the collaborative is also to improve trauma and combat casualty care through the development of interventions, therapeutics and devices to maximize survivability following injury.
Position SummaryTRC4 Executive Director will be appointed by the President of UTHSA and report to the President.
In reporting to the President, the Executive Director will have the resources of the President's leadership team for TRC4 including the Vice President for Research and the Military Health Institute (a key programmatic institute at UTHSA and a key liaison with the DOD and DHA).
The TRC4 Executive Director will provide strategic leadership and effective administration to advance the goals of the TRC4.
This position requires a demonstrated commitment to the overall success of the TRC4 and each of the collaborative institutions.
The TRC4 position is both a professional staff and faculty appointment in a relevant department.
The position is open until filled.
In brief, the duties of the TRC4 Director are to provide leadership, strategic direction and oversight of TRC4 functions.
The Director will oversee project review and implementation of trauma research proposals from the UT System institutions as directed by the Texas state legislature and the UT Board of Regents.
The duties of the Director include supporting the TRC4 Advisory Committee (which is composed of the 13 UT system universities), representatives of the Department of Defense and the hospital partners of the UT system institutions.
The TRC4 Director will also be responsible for managing UT System and state-appropriated funds dedicated to the TRC4.
The Director will 1) coordinate and manage data collection and analyses, communications, external relations and outreach; 2) work directly with Advisory Committee to develop strategic areas for trauma research support; 3) supervise the research project review process and ensure award grants based solely on their reviewed merit; 4) provide fiscal oversight and research project management; 5) serve as a liaison to the DoD, UT System, UT institutional members of TRC4, elected officials and the Legislative Budget Board (LBB); 6) recruit and supervise an effective leadership team to implement the mission of the TRC4; 7) collaboratively work with the Advisory Committee and the TRC4 investigators and awardees; 8) prepare a strategic plan for future growth and development of the TRC4; 9) oversee the annual TRC4 budget process; 10) represent the TRC4 in internal and external meetings related to the TRC4; and 11) prepare a formal annual report to the TRC4 Advisory Committee, the UT System Leadership and the state legislature on the activity of the TRC4.
Required QualificationsoDoctoral degree from an accredited university in a health-related discipline and terminal training in the related fieldoExtensive experience and knowledge related to trauma, combat casualty care, and biomedical research.
oExtensive experience in the distribution, coordination and management of extramural and intramural research funding.
oStrong record of scholarly and professional achievement.
oKnowledge of and compliance with federal and state regulations related to research and educational funding.
oDemonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaboratively and collegially with faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
oStrong process management skills, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
oHigh personal character and superb emotional intelligence with excellent communication skills.
oDemonstrated ability to build successful teams and form consensus while advancing projects and strategic priorities in collaboration with others.
Highly Desired QualificationsoExtensive Experience with Department of Defense Research Processes and Grant Management.
oExperience with commercialization and intellectual property in the development of therapeutics and devices related to trauma and combat casualty care.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
