POSITION SUMMARYThe Director of Visitor Experience leads visitor operations including visitor services and admissions and works closely with the group experience team membersThe Director of Visitor Experience is a member of the Wittes Senior Management Team and reports to the Chief of CommunicationsThe Director of Visitor Experience actively provides strategic direction on visitor-related opportunities and the overall visitor experienceThe Director of Visitor Experience has an active presence in the museum galleries, interacting with museum visitors and advocating on their behalf to create a memorable, welcoming and inclusive experienceThe Director of Visitor Experience is a critical partner with Public Programs and develops a team that supports the learning experience of visitors to the Witte MuseumThe Director of Visitor Experience oversees the recruiting and training of the Visitor Experience team.
RESPONSIBILITIESLeads and innovates to ensure all Witte Museum visitors receive an exceptional museum experience.
Inspires the Witte Team to consistently exceed visitor expectations through the development and implementation of training programs and policies that create a welcoming, safe, inclusive, entertaining and educational Witte experience.
Leads the Visitor Experience team to ensure admissions and sales goals are metIdentifies and presents innovative opportunities to increase revenue to support Witte Museum operations.
Oversees the accurate collection of admissions revenue, visitor demographics and visitor feedback for institutional planning and analysis.
Evaluates and analyzes visitor data to share with the Senior Management TeamCoordinates with Communications and Public Programs to ensure visitor demographics mirror those of San Antonio.
Works closely with Public Programs to integrate proper pedagogy, interpretive strategy and inquiry-based learning models into the Team scripts and training.
Collaborates with Facilities, Security and Exhibits to sustain the campus experience.
Leads the Witte Team to integrate community celebrations and holidays into the visitor experience.
Develops and maintains the Visitor Experience expense budget and admissions revenue budget.
Coordinates and maintains relationships with third-party ticketing partners.
Oversees the recruiting, hiring, coaching and evaluation of a diverse Visitor Experience teamCollaborates with Manager of Visitor Engagement on scheduling of staff and volunteers.
Other duties as assignedEDUCATIONPreferred:
Bachelors Degree in business or related field, or equivalent experienceEXPERIENCE AND SKILLS3-5 years of managerial experience in visitor experience at attractions or eventsBudget development and budget alignmentExcellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to handle situations with tact, persuasiveness, and diplomacyExcellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy while demonstrating the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasksMust be able to meet critical deadlines in a fast paced environmentProficient in use of personal computing software, particularly Microsoft Office.
Experience using and maintaining data in Customer Relationship Management softwareTessitura experience preferred.
Strong leadership skillsAbility to work independently and as a team memberPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be in good physical condition, able to move moderately heavy objects (30lbs.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
