Come be a part of what makes us so special!The OpportunityAs a dedicated Director, Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for leading, motivating, and providing direction and management to teams responsible for governing CoSA, LOB, or USAA level portfolios and ensures compliance to applicable policies, procedures, standards, controls, and regulations.
Partners with Executive Sponsors, Program Sponsors, business owners and additional stakeholders to ensure alignment to strategic objectives and effective prioritization, planning, budgeting, delivery, and benefits realization of work efforts.
Supports broader USAA portfolio management, supports technology investment planning, and coordinates with Program Managers on budget inputs and updates.
Communicates impact of saturation on employees and influences executive decision making.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week and can work out of the following regional location:
San Antonio, TX.

What you'll do:
Directs portfolio priorities and manages a portfolio of programs and work effort(s) to include administering planning, execution, budget, delivery health, reporting and analysis.
Responsible for governing low to highly complex, CoSA, LOB, or USAA level portfolio(s).
Accountable for ensuring completion of governance routines by team members; leads team through portfolio support to identify and escalate risks / dependencies.
Manages the CoSA, LOB, or USAA level portfolio on a continual basis, to resolve internal or Cross-CoSA dependency issues, supply and demand issues, and change saturation and disseminates information to stakeholders.
Identifies, manages, escalates, and resolves systemic cross-work risks / issues and interdependency conflicts.
Correlates overall portfolio risk and escalates issues to executive/senior management as needed.
Ensures effective financial and resource management of the CoSA, LOB, or USAA level portfolio(s) expenses to achieve business value.
Informs executive management about stale work efforts (epics, projects, or programs) and need for resolution, including termination of proposal if applicable.
Develops performance metrics, dashboards and management tools that clearly articulate the status of key activities ensuring timely and successful execution.
Works with Enterprise Integrated Planning (EIP) to influence prioritization and sequencing of work efforts within portfolio, as applicable.
Monitors and makes decisions pertinent to scope changes as needed.
Resolves escalated portfolio risk and issues and escalates to executive management as needed.
Communicates on all portfolio activities regularly with Executive Sponsors, Program Sponsors, business owners, and additional stakeholders as required.
Manages portfolio critical path by coordinating program and project scheduling and interdependencies based on constraints and risks.
Reviews portfolio health and performance reports regularly and identifies performance improvement opportunities to executive management.
Facilitates processes/ceremonies to define work efforts and monitor portfolio success via recognized methodologies i.

Adheres to company and regulatory policies and procedures and EPMO processes, procedures, controls, standards, tools, and templates (as required).
Leverages existing change management routines as needed.
Drives the adoption and sustainment of changes within the organization in compliance with USAA's Change Management methodology.
Manages CoSA, LOB, or USAA level portfolio risks associated with business activities in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you'll have:
Bachelor's degree; OR 4 additional years (12 Total) of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
8 years of progressive program or portfolio management experience to include process improvement and/or consulting for large strategic efforts to include 2 years of experience leading across complex organizational lines in a matrix structure.
3 years of direct team lead or management experience.
Advanced understanding of project, program and portfolio management and principles.
Comprehensive knowledge of the full life cycle experience managing strategic and operational work efforts.
Demonstrated experience using Waterfall or Agile methodologies to execute on portfolio management strategies and delivering complex work efforts.
Currently possess at least one of the following:
Certified Project Manager (CPM), Lean Portfolio Management Certification, Project Management Professional (PMP) or gains one within 6 months of placement.
Proficient experience in USAA's change management methodology or similar industry change management methodology.

Building relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders, including senior executives, investment managers, risk officers, is essential for gaining support, ensuring alignment, and managing expectations throughout the portfolio management process.
Decision-making and Prioritization:
Demonstrating sound judgment, decisiveness, and the ability to prioritize initiatives based on their strategic importance, potential impact, and resource requirements is vital for effectively managing a diverse and dynamic investment portfolio in a complex and evolving business environment.
Reporting and Analytics Expertise:
Utilizing advanced reporting and analytics techniques to build portfolio health reporting with key performance indicators and actionable insights at various leadership altitudes to enable informed decision making and proactive management of investment risks and opportunities.
Demonstrated strategic thinking and ability to design, build and transform a high performing team.
Demonstrated proficiency influencing and creating executive communications; ability to present data to tell a story and drive decision making.
Experience with lean budgeting, implementing lean-agile guardrails and transforming traditional portfolio management practices to lean agile portfolio management practices.
PMP AND Lean Agile certs (LPM 6 AND SPC 6).
Prior experience Managing business architects, creating a business architecture strategy and developing capability roadmaps.

You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position.
The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
The salary range for this position is:
$138,230-$248,810.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
