Description
Are you a savvy scientist ready to take your knowledge and organizational skills to the next level? We are looking for that unique individual who will provide team leadership, promote best practices and support the day-to-day activities of a productive research laboratory. This position requires the ability to provide organization and support for a staff training plan, oversee and manage a laboratory equipment and reagents system, assist with preparing and overseeing the laboratory budget, as well as ensure that the highest standards for laboratory documentation are met.
The Role:

Your support would enable our laboratory to be successful in using recombinant viruses in cellular systems and animal models to identify antivirals and design live-attenuated vaccines for the treatment and prevention of viral disease.
Your work environment will be the Disease Intervention & Prevention at the Texas Biomedical Research Institute. Texas Biomedical Research Institute is the only private, non-profit infectious disease research facility, providing high containment research capabilities (BSL3 & BSL4) alongside a National Primate Research Center.
  • Manage reporting, monitoring, resources, and laboratory personnel
  • Work closely with team members to provide effective solutions to support the efficient day-to-day operations of the laboratory
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and budgets
  • Establish and improve procedures and processes by addressing issues and risks
  • Implement employee management solutions to improve productivity and efficiency
  • Ensure the lab establishes and maintains a calibration program for testing equipment that affects quality results
  • Monitor reagent levels and general lab supply needs
  • Attend lab meetings

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • A master's degree in a biological/health science field is required. A Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Manager or Supervisor Experience - 2 years preferred
  • Experience with Inventory and Duties which Involve Counting, Entering Quantities, and Overall Inventory Management
  • Experience in Complex Scheduling
  • Experience with research in a collaborative setting
  • Strong Problem Solving, Training, Team Building, and Mentoring Abilities
  • Excellent communication abilities in English; spoken and written.
  • Strong organizational skills and software (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Word, Zoom, Microsoft Outlook and/or others)
