Registered Nurse (Nurse Manager OPS-IR-PACU)

You will be responsible for sound fiscal and human resource management and patient safety standards, customer service/patient satisfaction, hiring decisions, staffing, employee relations, standards of care/practice, the work environment and accreditation standards. Oversight and management of the nursing personnel in the Outpatient Surgery, Post Anesthesia Care and Interventional Radiology (IR) Units. Management and oversight of the moderate sedation nursing personnel in IR. You are responsible for applying the nursing process to systems and processes at the unit, team, and at work group level to improve care and demonstrating leadership by involving others in improving care. You will assume accountability for the operation of designated areas of responsibility. This includes the management, supervision and evaluation of care delivered by nursing and other allied health care staff. As a registered nurse, you are also responsible for contributing to the establishment and implementation of evidenced-based nursing standards of practice. You will serve as a role model in the delivery of comprehensive patient and family care and the resolution of issues. You will provide staff with ongoing feedback related to performance, and prepare performance appraisals and Individual development plans. You will apply problem-solving skills leading to resolution of barriers to patient flow. You will prepare nursing schedules and reports in a timely manner, and monitor staffing patterns and time and attendance, taking corrective action as needed. You will be responsible for creating and updating unit policies and procedures and communicating the changes to the staff in a timely manner. You will provide and monitor orientation for new employees, and monitor employees' competencies. You will lead/delegate group activities to solve problems or accomplish a specific task. You will teach, coach, and facilitate educational and learning opportunities to your employees. You will initiate quality improvement activities and collaborate with new initiatives designed to lead nursing practice into a pathway to excellence that result in improved outcomes, and evaluate the practice of self and others using professional standards, relevant statutes, and regulations, taking action to improve identified deficiencies. You will ensure Performance Measures are implemented and evaluate effectiveness of initiatives. Actively manages and develops collaborative partnerships with clinicians and physicians to achieve common goals. You will work in collaboration with Surgery, Medicine, Interventional Radiology and Anesthesia leadership. You will work in collaboration with the Operating Room and the Surgical Specialty clinics Nurse Managers. The Nurse Manager is responsible to the Chief, Nursing Service for Surgery. Work Schedule:

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Experience:
-Preferable 3 years of management/supervisory experience -BSN preferable master's degree in health related field -Certification in ICU, Peri Anesthesia or Interventional Radiology -ACLS -ICU, moderate sedation and/or Recovery experience preferred Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
