Job Description
Summary:
The Loss Prevention Officer monitors and patrols assigned areas to provide a safe environment for guests and employees.
They also work to minimize opportunities for loss or damage and acts to deter any agent or element from jeopardizing persons or property in or about the hotel's facilities.
The Loss Prevention Officer shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times.
Job Description:
Essential Job FunctionsMaintain complete awareness of scheduled group activities and house count, hotel facilities and services, hours of operation, facility layout, fire and emergency plans and departmental rules of conductReview department log records and be familiar with pertinent information relevant to the daily shiftReview the hotel status and follow up actions with the previous shift officerProvide escorts for employees in accordance with departmental standardsEnsure that after-hours access into secured hotel areas are properly authorized, monitored and documented in accordance with hotel standardsHandle deliveries received during non-business hours following hotel proceduresWork with outside agencies (i.
e.
sheriff) cooperatively and follow established hotel regulationsCoordinate emergency situations as specified in departmental manualContact the Security Supervisor immediately for emergency situations as specified in departmental manualMonitor surveillance cameras as assignedInvestigate duress alarms and comply with respective proceduresPatrol the property with specified equipment, checking all designated points and document all actions taken in accordance with departmental standardsResolve safety hazard situationsEnsure all guest room doors are secured; assist guests with room access in accordance with hotel proceduresChallenge suspicious persons on hotel property in accordance with departmental proceduresConduct designated investigations into theft or lost items, noise complaints, assault complaints, food poisoning complaints and other guest complaints; complete documented reports in accordance with departmental proceduresRespond to the scene of guest/employee accident promptly; administer first aid/CPR in accordance to guidelines and comply with all departmental procedures; communicate specified information to EMS/medical personnel as requiredReport to scenes of guest or employee fighting and follow designated proceduresComply with state regulations and hotel guidelines for handling intoxicated guestsCoordinate towing of vehicles as specified in department proceduresReport to scenes of vehicles accidents/thefts and document specified information, following hotel policy and proceduresAssist in moving/removing guest room possessions, inventory and security of such and E key rooms following hotel policy and proceduresDocument, organize and store all lost and found items given to Security; document guest inquiries for lost items and coordinate return of lost items to guests in accordance with hotel proceduresComply with guest requests for storing and safekeeping of their valuables and follow proceduresMake arrests in compliance with legal and hotel requirementsMaintain confidentiality of all Security and hotel reports/documents; release information only to authorized individualsPromote positive relations with guests and employees alikeAccommodate all guest requests courteouslyCommunicate by radio with designated hotel personnel in accordance with hotel standardsMonitor and handle guest complaints by following the instant pacification procedures and ensuring guest satisfactionPrepare work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to EngineeringLegibly complete designated reports as specified in departmental guidelinesDocument all pertinent information in the log book dailyComplete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving and review hotel status and any follow-up actions with oncoming Loss Prevention Officer.
Full awareness of ADA standardsSuccessful completion of the training/certification processProvide interdepartmental assistance upon request to ensure optimum service to guestsProvide security service for banquet functions/meeting rooms as assignedOther duties as assignedExperience and Education:
High school education or equivalent requiredPrevious experience in a hotel environment preferredPrevious Military, Police, Fire, and Medical background preferredCriminal Justice or related college degree preferredJob
Responsibilities:
Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permitValid Driver's License and satisfactory driving background/criminal history record.
Knowledge of local laws, investigative methods and fire safetyValid certification in CPR and first aid or the ability to obtain certificationCertification in alcohol awareness program or ability to obtain oneCompute basic arithmetic.
Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally.
Provide legible communication and directions.
Ability to handle cash and accurately perform payment transactions.
Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.

Working Conditions:
Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with periods of walkingMust be able to push and pull objects weighing up to 100 lbs.
