Job Description
Summary:
The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting and proper seating of guests as they enter the restaurant.
S/he will be responsible for creating an excellent first impression as well as ensuring timely and appropriate seating of guests.
The Host/Hostess will assist in maintaining the Resort Standards.
S/he will be an integral member of the team that creates distinctively different and authentic experiences for our guests.
S/he will be responsible for greeting and seating guests, overseeing dining room maintenance and monitoring service to ensure guest satisfaction.
Job Description:
Essential Functions:
Plans and coordinates timely seating of guestsGreets incoming guestsTakes reservations in person and over the phone, using professional language at all timesResponsible for hanging guests coats, purses, etc.
Cleans and resets tables as neededProvides guests with high chairs, booster seats, etc.
Ensures guests are comfortable and welcome if required to waitMaintains cleanliness of podium areasAnswers restaurant telephone, responding to guests' questions in a professional mannerEscorts every guest to table, hands out menus and ensures table(s) are properly set upMaximizes the seating of the restaurantAttends mandatory monthly department meetings appropriate resort and division meetingsAssists servers, bussers with refilling beverages and/or clearing tablesSchedules dining room reservationsNotifies servers of guests' special requests, events, etc.
Completes all assigned side-work, obtaining manager's signature when completeInforms server of any potential guest issuesFamiliarizes him/herself with menuAnswers questions and/or makes recommendations on menus as neededAssists servers with monitoring assigned tables for customer satisfaction, quality and additional serviceProvides general resort information for guestsOffers warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests of La Cantera Resort and Spaincluding use of guest name & good eye contact with each guestMaintains an up to date working knowledge of all resort amenities as well as any special eventsInteracts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary informationUp sells other resort services and amenities to guestsAddresses any guest issue promptly and with concernOffers guests assistance resort directions, activity suggestions, etc.
Provides assistance to restaurant staff as neededMaintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.
e.
broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons).
Reports all safety incidents to on-duty supervisor.
Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment.
Maintains a professional appearance.
Follows all La Cantera Resort and Spa dress code standards.
Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all times.
Experience and Education:
High school education or equivalent preferredAt least one year Host/Hostess experience preferredAt least one year Food and Beverage experience preferredAt least one year of customer service experience requiredJob Requirements:
Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permitMust be at least 18 years of age Must be able to work well under pressureMust be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written Must be highly detailed orientated Must be able to work in a fast paced environment Must have excellent listening skills Must possesses excellent communication skills Must be professional in appearance and demeanor Must always ensure a teamwork environment Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and associates Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guestsWorking Conditions:
Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with intermittent periods of walking and stair climbing.
Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 25 lbs at shoulder height Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs; Must be able to bend, squat, push and pull frequently; Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, squeezing, overhead reaching and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently.
